Congratulations to our community members who received awards at our Northwest Neighborhoods Annual Meeting on February 27, 2025! Thank you for all you’ve done to better our neighborhoods.

Shallanna Davis – Irene Catlin Leadership Award

For her passion and committment to Southwest Detroit Shoreway and neighborhoods around the Dudley Triangle Pocket Park, and her work to build a safe and welcoming community for her neighbors.





Corinne Henahan (Spotlight Cleveland) – Sean Kilbane Neighborhood Investment Award

For her vision and work transforming a neglected storefront into a welcoming neighborhood music venue.





Monica Lelutiu – Zone Family Public Service Award

For being a dedicated member of the Recreation Leadership team at Michael J. Zone Recreation center for over a decade, creating safe and empowering spaces for local young people.



Melanie Shakarian – Father Frascati Neighborhood Champion

For her dedication and leadership contributing to the work and collaboration of the Cleveland Public Library, the Legal Aid Society, and Northwest Neighborhoods.



Julia Van Wagenen (Neighborly Tree Care) – Northwest Neighborhoods Sustainability Award

For going above and beyond in the protection and growth of our neighborhoods' tree canopy.



Thrive for Change – Northwest Neighborhoods Community Spirit Award

For providing critical harm reduction outreach, education, and advocacy for our residents in need of support, healing, and community.



Cleveland Public Theatre – Northwest Neighborhoods Community Spirit Award

For their tireless support of artistic programming that speaks truth to power.



Cleveland Public Library – Judge Raymond L. Pianka Community Partner Award

For their vision and partnership to make the Karam Senior Living and Walz Library branch project a reality.



Sister Judith Karam - Walter and Pauline Martens Lifetime Achievement

For her lifetime as a health care pioneer, serving our communities for more than 60 years.

Northwest Neighborhoods is the nonprofit provider of affordable housing and community development services for Cudell, Detroit Shoreway and Edgewater on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio. As a community-led organization, we equitably foster diverse, vibrant neighborhoods that are physically and socially connected, where anyone can thrive.

Northwest Neighborhoods was formed in 2021 through a members-approved merger of Cudell Improvement, Inc. and Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization.
